Join us for a Dinner and davening on July 11th and 12th, Shabbat Parsha Balak, featuring our Scholars-in-Residence, Ms. Shuli Taubes and Dr. Ari Gordon, who will share words of Torah during the meals. Child supervision will be available during the speeches to ensure a relaxed and enjoyable experience for all.

Ms. Shuli Taubes serves on the faculty of SAR High School in Riverdale, New York. She teaches Tanakh and Jewish Identity, and chairs the Jewish Philosophy department. She also developed and teaches a curriculum for educating Modern Orthodox high school students in comparative religion. Shuli is a member of the Machon Siach cohort on sexuality, where she conducts research on Jewish sexual ethics and education. She recently published a curriculum and teaching guide titled, This Too is Torah. For three years, she was the Sopher Community Scholar at the Young Israel of North Riverdale. She also teaches kallah classes and lectures in synagogues and adult education programs throughout North America. Shuli received her Master of Divinity (MDiv) from Harvard Divinity School and her B.A. in History from Barnard College.

Dr. Ari Gordon is AJC Director of Muslim-Jewish relations, where he leads the organization’s interreligious engagement with Muslim leadership in the United States and around the world. He is a scholar of Islamic studies and the history of interreligious relations, and for the past 20 years Ari has also been at the forefront of Jewish bridge-building efforts with other faith groups.He has been a fellow with the Wexner Foundation, the El-Hibri Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Powering Pluralism Network and the Vartan Gregorian Center for the Humanities at the New York Public Library. A graduate of Yeshiva University (BA 2005) and Harvard Divinity School (MTS 2010), Gordon completed a PhD in Islamic Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, where his research focused on sacred geography and interreligious relations in early Islam.
