How did Jewish law function under the extreme conditions of the Holocaust? This three-part series explores how rabbis and Jewish communities confronted halachic questions during and after the Holocaust, when survival, faith, and moral responsibility were in constant tension. Through close study of rabbinic writings, we will examine real dilemmas Jews faced. Together, we will explore how halacha was applied, stretched, and at times suspended in the face of unprecedented evil, and what these responses teach us about Jewish law.
